Nature in black and white

Some folks like myself are color blind. (I'm not totally color blind. But, trust me, you don't want me picking what shade of purple or red you want to paint the kitchen.) Dogs, I'm told, are color blind. These thoughts occur to me as I ponder "Fixed Views: Black and White Images of Nature." It's an intriguing new exhibition of photographs by Frank Kaczmarek that renders the natural world in stark and indelible new ways - as per "Rock, Ice, Stream," shown here. An opening reception takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Studio 33 Art & Frame Gallery, 140 Bank St., New London. Runs through June 22. Hours 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues., Wed. and Fri.; 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Thurs.; and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sat. studio33pictureframes.com.
