Stonington - Guided walking tours of the borough have returned and will be offered on Sunday afternoons starting at the Old Lighthouse Museum on Water Street.

The tours start at 2 p.m. and are sponsored by the Stonington Historical Society. They aim to show how the borough developed while highlighting places that figured in the 1814 battle of Stonington as well as movie locations for this summer's romantic comedy "Hope Springs," starring Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones.

The cost is $7 per adult and $3 per student. Dogs must be on a leash. A tour guidebook is also available for $6, which includes a map and historical photographs.

For more information about the tour, call the historical society's headquarters at (860) 535-8445 or visit the website www.stoningtonhistory.org. For weather-related questions on the day of the tour, call the Lighthouse Museum at (860) 535-1440.
